Lisa Baw

Lisa Baw (包錦蓉) is a Taiwanese-American artist and disability advocate whose work reflects resilience, hope, and the beauty of life. Born in 1985 and diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy at birth, Lisa discovered art as a way to develop hand-eye coordination and express her unique perspective. She currently studies Fine Arts at Queensborough Community College in New York.

Working primarily in acrylic and oil, Lisa uses vibrant colors and expressive brushstrokes to transform her life experiences into uplifting works of art. Her artwork has been exhibited at venues including the United Nations, the Museum of Modern Art, and international exhibitions.

Recognized as an inspiring role model for people with disabilities, Lisa's life story has been featured in three books. In recognition of her contributions to the arts and community, the New York State Assembly proclaimed February 20 as "Lisa Baw Day."

"Art plays the most important role in my therapies. Art puts abilities in disabilities." — Lisa Baw.
